Mine may Have Sunk South Korean Corvette
Image from english.ruvr.ru article
This Al Jazeera article states the official South Korean story thus far that the sinking of the Cheonan was due to a mine. A mine deployed possibly from the Korean War. Wouldn't a mine tend to strike closer to the bow? Whether it was a mine or torpedo, it tore off the ship's stern and she sank very quickly. Well, the stern did. The bow capsized and floated from trapped air for some unknown time. I wish Pete Coates was still blogging at GentleSeas, but he's got school to worry about. Life is about priorities. He'll be back online within two months or so. However, the gentle Asian seas were a little hostile last week and his public commentary and analysis would have proven illuminating.
